Operating instructions Pfronten, 08.12.2004 Interface of 304 for HAFF planimeter 300, 301, 330E and 331E Scope of supply: Interface with 2 connecting cables (sub D 9 pole and jack plug 3,5mm). Description: The interface transmits the measuring data from the planimeter to an attached computer; the data can be processed from there by software! For the operating system Microsoft Windows 98, 2000 and XP we subordinate a free software under http://www.haff.de/service.htm for download. Other operating systems, see further below! Software installation: Download the software into a temporary directory, unpack, run setup.exe and follow the instructions! If the software is installed successfully, you can now start the program planimeter. Select the program over . Measurements prepare: Connect the interface of 304 with the HAFF digitally planimeter 300, 301, 330E or 331E (jack plug 3,5mm), and with the serial port of the PC's (9 pin plug). For the current supply of the interface you use the battery charger, which is attached to the planimeter! First time konfiguration: At the first time you start the program you can choose the language between english and german. After the selection of the language and their confirmation with the OK botton, the actual Planimeter program is started. Measurements accomplish: Select the desired serial interface attached to the planimeter (com1 or com2). Activate if necessary the average computation. Select now the countryspecific system of units (german or english) and the desired units. INFORMATION: The selected units in the PC and those in the planimeter do not have to agree with one another! Operate with the mouse the button and begin with the measurements! With the operation of the planimeters you should already trust to be. (Please read the instructions of the planimeter manual). For sending the measuring data nothing must be prepared at the planimeter! The measuring data will transfer automatically after conclusion of each measurement, i.e. after each pressing the keys Hold+/Hold/the data are sent to AV and MR from the planimeter! After pressing the on/off key it begins a new cycle The results of measurement are tabular listed at the screen. With the Button can be stored the results of measurement as a CSV format file. For subsequent treatment this CSV file can be loaded with the import instruction into all usual office programs! With the button you will close the application. 1 / 2 Technical data: Serially RS232 300 Baud, 8 data bit, no parity, 2 stop bit pin Assignment: Sub D 9pol. socket no. 2 transmit data; no. 5 mass bridge 7-8 and 1-6-4 Data control: Data record always becomes after pressing of the keys "Hold"; "MR/MC" and "AV" sent. Handshake lines are ignored by the planimeter! X-ON and X-OFF are also ignored! Record format: In each case a line, those with carriage return (hex:d) and LINE feed (hex:a) Line format: Modus; key;indexvalue;messurementvalue; mode (1 number): 0=area, 1=line, 2=vol, 6=areaxy Key (1 number): 1=ON; 3=(-); 4=(+); 7=MR; 8=AV index value (max. 2 numbers): Value of the small LCD (e.g. Avg Nr) Measured value: (-)value(-)Exp - (optionally) sign value measured value max. 8 places E exponent -(optional) sign exponent max. 2 places example: “ 0;4;0;3685032E-2; “ = surface of 368,5 cm² Each line is terminated with carriage return (hex:d) and LINE feed (hex:a). The spent measured value always is in "mm" and/or "mm²" or "mm³", all the same which in the planimeter for conditions and units were selected! Thus very many applications can be realized by software downstream (e.g. unusual units and yardsticks such as gallon, german inch, irish foot, nautical mile...). A simple software for the operating system starting from WINDOWS 98 and above you can download under http://www.haff.de/service.htm! Other operating systems: The data can be read in also with the terminal programs of other operating systems.
